As you move through life, there are so many things that can impact the color of your teeth. And, since it happens so slowly, you don’t even realize their dullness and stains until it is too late. Thankfully, there are options to reverse this discoloration.

The Zoom! System of teeth whitening is one of the best on the market. It can brighten your smile with incredibly dramatic results in the least amount of time. Let’s talk about it.

About Zoom Teeth Whitening

The Zoom System involves an in-office treatment that will include retracting the lips while the dentist or assistant paints on a protective barrier along the gums. Next, the whitening gel is applied and the infamous Zoom light is attached. After 15 minutes, more whitening gel will be applied and the teeth will sit under the light for another 15 minutes. This continues two more times – for a total of one hour under the light.

The in-office whitening treatment is usually followed up by a take-home treatment that contains a special whitening gel and a clear retainer. Detailed instructions will be provided by the dentist on how to use this.

How Often Can I Do Zoom Whitening?

In general, it is often recommended that patients have one in-office Zoom! session per year, follow up by at-home maintenance sessions. The intervals between the at-home whitening treatments will vary and are often based on the discretion of the dental professional. However, spacing out the use of the whitening trays at home will allow you to maintain your bright white smile all throughout the year.

Your dentist knows the best way to treat your teeth and will be able to recommend the best whitening options for you.

Extending Your Whitening Results

Once you have whitened your teeth, it is easy to be elated with your results. But, you can’t let your guard down. Your newly white teeth can very quickly become stained again if you aren’t careful. Extend your whitening results by learning what causes staining and discoloration in the first place. This includes:

  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Colorful and acidic foods, such as blueberries, beets, raspberries, and the link, as well as starchy foods like pasta and potatoes.
  • Beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine, soda, and acidic juices.
  • Tobacco use.
  • Genetics and aging.
  • Certain medications and health conditions

By stepping up your level of oral hygiene – including regular dental visits – as well as making lifestyle changes, you can keep your pearly whites for much longer in between sessions.
